While in Hawaii last week, our friends made some homemade pancake syrup. It was sooo yummy! So, I decided that I would take a shot at making some. Her recipe included maple flavoring, however I didn't have any. So I made do with the items I had in my cabinet and I got 2 big bottles of syrup...for free!
Melt it all together and pour it into whatever you are storing your syrup in. I chose some salad dressing bottles and I still had about 1 c left over.We eat a lot of waffles and pancakes in our house and with my new love of spam, eggs and rice with syrup - we will be going through a lot more syrup than we already do.
Here are the 2 recipes I made yesterday:
Milk & Honey (sugar free)
3/4 c 1 tbl 1 tsp milk
1/4 c vanilla
1/4 c brown sugar (optional - obviously doesn't make it sugar free)
1/2 c butter
Molasses Pancake Syrup
1 c sugar
2 c water
1 tbl molasses
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp maple extract (I didn't have the extract so I used 1 1/2 tsp vanilla instead)
Awesome Frugal Momma!! Will have to try this at our home ~ yum. :)
